Chrome filter does not come out as expected

Maybe I'm not doing it correctly, but I took an image save it in CS3 as a .psd and after some maniulation added the chrome filter to it. The problem is it looks more like a b&w image than that of a silver like chrome image.
Any ideas how to achieve the effect I want?
