straighten scanned text

Hello,

in Acrobat there is an option to optimize scanned images which straighten the text. I searched in Photoshop CS3 but found no such option. I need to straighten my text before converting to a bitmap. Is this possible with Photoshop and if yes, how?

Is scanned text not already a bitmap or are you using OCR software? Have you tried the Transform tool (ctrl+T) to rotate the text/layer?

I scan the papers in grayscale because there are some images in it. Then I run an automatism, which cuts some black outer regions, sharpen the image and then transform the image to a bitmap and save it with an self-defined name. (And by the way, I don't trust the software, which is delivered with the scanners that they convert to bitmap best.)

Because the angle of rotation is different to each page, I need an function which automatically detect the right transformation as in Acrobat.

CS3 may not be the best application to do what you want to do, it is basically a bitmap edited program (with a little vector trown in), granted an extremely powerfull one. As you have discovered, Acrobat is probably the best app to use in your case. As the rotation differs between scans I doubt if an action (script maybe?) could be setup in PS to do what you want.
