Curves not doing what it should...

I've noticed that when I set up a custom profile using "Curves" and click on save, what is saved is not what I had set up and previewed. There is some change in contrast and brightness, but it is always less than what I set up. This is very weird--I had never seen this happen before, although this is the first time that I have done such radical corrections.

Any ideas? I recently reinstalled (PS 7) but everything else is working fine.

When you save a Curves profile as an ACV file it stores only the curves information and NOT any of the layer properties such as opacity or blend modes. Maybe you are seeing a difference in contrast and brightness because the layer properties are not identical between images.

One way to avoid this drawback is to copy the curves layer to a new image with no image data. Save that as a psd file. Later when you want to recall your intricate profile open your target image and the special blank image and copy the curves layer from there to your target image.

Hope I've guessed right and this solves your problem.

Thanks JP, unfortunately we're talking about simple, grayscale, one-layer images here. Sorry I wasn't more specific.
