One of my clients is having a problem in the file browser (file – open) in PE. He is a real-estate broker and deals with hundreds (maybe thousands) of high quality photos. When he tries to scroll to the picture he wants, the scroll bar is locked until every icon for every file in the current view gets the PE icon. This process is apparently VERY slow, taking him a few minutes or longer to get to the file he wants if say the file he is trying to open begins with a letter at the end of the alphabet. Is there any way of turning off this caching process (I’m assuming that’s what’s going on)? I tried the ‘do not cache thumbnails’ in the folder options to no avail. The system has no spyware or viruses and was just defragmented. TIA.
