Having problems with Stroke feature (CS2)

Hello,

I am currently having a problem with my version of Photoshop. I use Photoshop CS2 on Windows XP.

What happens is that when I would like to put a stroke around an outline that I would like to be 1 pixel wide, it ends up being alot thicker. It looks like it would be 30-40 pixels wide. I tired everything I can think of, I even tried uninstalling my version of Photoshop to see if it would work again but it didn't work. Any help with this would be appreciated.

First of all, describe exactly what you are doing. There are a few different ways to Stroke something.

Secondly, resetting Preferences is usually more effective than reinstalling.

Okay I shall give an example of what I would do.

Say I would use the rectangular marquee tool to make a boarder. I would make my rectangle and then right click and select "Stroke". I would set the pixel with to 1 pixel wide and then the width of the stroke would go completely wider than 1 pixel wide.

Here is a picture of what I mean. I did this on a 300 x 300 picture.

You are sure you have it set to one pixel and not one inch or something?

After going with resesting the preferences the problem went away. Thank you for your help with fixing this.
