yes and that did not work either. and it's not too large. The only thing I can think of is somehow it didn't save correctly or something.

try opening it with image ready. if it opens resave it.

This was a lesson from Above, Sabrina. Never work for hours on a file and then save (with different names). Save every half hour or so. In this case, you might have still lost the last save, but you would have still had one from a half hour earlier.

I am having exactly the same problem. I am on a Windows platform and am working with nexternal Hard drive. * other images some of which are larger are opening as usual (from inside Photoshop) but one file is giving the same message as you have posted. I have checked to properties and the file format and there is nothing different about this image. have you found any answers? I'll try the Image Ready idea but from what you're all saying I've lost it? Why does the thumbnail show up OK?

the thumbnail shows up fine for me too. I started over and I've been saving it every 10 layers since it's a project that requires a LOT of layers. So I save every 10 layers under a new name (Ex: lauren1-10, lauren1-20, etc.) So if it were to happen again, it only sets me back by ten layers or so and ten layers doesn't take very long to do so it's not a major set back. thank you for all your help though.
