I just wanted to inform you about a free and very useful tool called the Photoshop Filters Index (http://ganes.ch/photoshop).

This index gives you an overview of the regular Photoshop 7 filters. You can either choose a single filter category or show them all at once. As there are many options in most of the filters, the images presented here only demonstrate the default settings of each filter using white as foreground color and green as background color.

Please note: I started this project with the English filter names, but programmed it in such a way that other languages can be added very easily. If you want to contribute a new language – which is of course highly appreciated – please send us an e-mail to

You actually don’t have to translate – just send me a list of the filter names in the order in which they appear in your photoshop filter menu and I’ll figure out how they correspond to the English terms.

This is great! I wanted to do a similar thing myself. Will save me a lot of time for sure.

Nice work Nick
Another site that might appreciate this kind of self-less work is http://photoshopgurus.info/forum/
there are lots of bi-linguals there.
One thing. You might want to make the filter examples 3 across instead of 4 across. Even at 1024 pixels, your site is wider than the screen. nikki

Hi!

Very appreciated effort, but would be more useful if it is narrated. Also, one picture chosen for all filters WONT do! Many beginners will not even know why some filters are useful (e.g. see noise filters)! As a start point, this site could be useful, but surely will have to be retouched in a manner that maximizes the benefit.
