Hi,

I recently upgraded to Vista and CS3.

Now I cannot get jpg files to open with Photoshop CS3 as the default program.

When I right-click a jpg image, choose "Properties" and then click "Change" in an attempt to change the "Opens with:" default program for jpg files, Photoshop won’t show up in the list at all.

When I browse to Photoshop CS3 in the "Opens with:" dialog box, select the photoshop.exe file as the default, it brings me back to the "Opens with:" dialog box and Photoshop is still no where to be seen in the programs list.

Another developer at our company is having the same problem.

Any fix for this? It is slightly annoying!

Thanks for any help in advance.

Instead of right-clicking a JPG try setting the associations in Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options… > File Types.

Well I took another stab at it this afternoon and found a solution.

I had to use <http://www.creativelement.com/powertools/>

I deleted the .jpg association, restarted the Creative Element Power Tools software, and it prompted me to set up the file type for .jpg I did this, used photoshop as the default.

I had to restart Vista before the change took effect.

PITA, but well worth it to me.
