Installation photoshop CS3 Extended

Hi guys,

I have a problem when installing photoshop CS3 Extended. When I press the setup.exe on my windows xp, a popup is received. But, after a few seconds, it disappears and nothing happens anymore. Then I tried to install it in silent mode and I received the 'exit code 7'.

When I checked the installation logs, I found the following error message:

* =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Installer Operation: UninstallBootstrapperOperation

But, I can't make anything from this error message.

Does somebody know what tha above error message means and how I can fix it? (I already tried to start windows xp in special mode without virus scanner, etc and this didn't help)

Cheers
Henri

Help with Installation matters is FREE from Adobe Customer Services. They should be able to talk you through the process of trouble-shooting this.

This may help it's from another poster. I was having the same problems with Windows Vista until I did this. I believe it works for XP as well.

This is from this forum:

Manually register the jscript.dll file.

On Windows Vista32:

1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.
2. Right-click the Command icon, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate.
3. Navigate to Windows\System32.
4. At the prompt, type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
5. When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.

On Windows Vista64:

1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.
2. Right-click the Command icon, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate.
3. Navigate to Windows\SysWow64.
4. At the prompt, type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
5. When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.

I found the solution to the problem after looking though log files and I found an error with the code 2739. So no cleanup or all that rubbish, just follow steps above and CS3 will install as well as CS2 did!

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't help me. I am getting the same error in the log file while trying to do a silent install of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows XP.
