Correcting curvature of scanned image

This is a general question about photoshop. Can the software be used to correct the curvature of a scanned image. i.e. placing an open book on a flat bed scanner will result in shadow and curvature of text towards the middle of the image, because the open pages will not lay completely flat on the scanner. Is there a way of correcting the curved through image manipulation - if so how?

Thanks

For the shadow, you can use levels or curves to bring it back to normal.

For the curve distortion, you could try liquify filter or even the wave filter.
