My default printer is a monochrome laser, because the main use of my PC is word and email.
when i want to print from PSCS3, each successive image wants to go to the "default" laser, rather than my photo printer. assume i can write a macro/action that will deal with this annoyance - is there any other way for PS to remember the photo printer as *its* default?

Do a bit of reading on this forum you will see that you are not alone.

well, i hunted for "multiple printer" and "default printer" before posting, and didnt see anything... hence this question. (i really hate to post redundant questions.)
that being said, it is clearly Microsoft's fault that the OS doesn't easily allow us to associate a printer with an application.
i'm glad that Bill is no longer the richest man in the world.

In versions prior to CS3, your selection of a printer and printer settings remained set (with any subsequent manual changes you made) throughout a Photoshop session. In CS3, each time you print everything is returned to the system defaults. This is what Adobe believes the user's experience should be, according to the printing system designer's statements in John Nack's blog <
http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2007/06/printing_in_cs3.html>. So far, Adobe appears to believe this is a feature, not a bug. The users appear to disagree.

Thanks. As you state, I was able to live with a per-session choice of printer in CS2 and previous versions. (since CS3 allows me to use legacy toobars, amybe CS4 will allow me to use legacy defaults?) ;-{

Bruce,
I hate this too.
In CS2 and earlier successive prints only needed 1 click. CS3 needs 9 clicks per print!
Adobe surely can't convince me that this is normal behavior...
