CS3 error message when clicking on the type tool

Hello: does anyone know how to resolve this problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled; deleted prefs. and nothing solved the issue.

Error message that pops up when clicking on the text tool -

"could not complete your request because of a program error."

Then PS CS 3 does not allow me to close the error message, which means that I must FORCE QUIT.

mac G5 tower, leopard 10.5.6

You may have damaged or duplicate fonts. Which font are you using — and have you tried others? Have you also tried to Reset the Type Tool (from the fly-out menu in the Tool Presets on the left end of the Tool Bar)?

you could also have corruption in your user account.

do you have this problem in a new user?
