Photoshop CS4 unable to print to RIP

Our office just upgraded to CS4 and while all other applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat) are able to print to our Epson 4000 RIP, Photoshop cannot. The prints enter the queue, get processed usually very quickly, and than nothing prints. Doesn’t matter what the file is either. We’ve tried complex files and just photo’s. Nothing. So far we’ve had to either open the files in PS CS2 which works fine, save the file to PDF and use Acrobat to print, or create a new document in InDesign with the file and print.

I think the problem is that our Colorburst RIP software (running on an old Mac as server) is really old. It’s version 3.8.3. I just don’t understand what the heck would cause PS only not to be able to print to it, though. AND we can print to a Xerox color printer just fine from PS CS4!

Any thoughts on how to correct this? Do you think we’ll need to update the RIP software? Any help is appreciated.

BTW, we are all running OS 10.4.11 if that makes a difference.
