In cases where the ~PST….tmp file is left on the hard drive, is there any way an individual, programmer or LEO can retrieve data from it?

Many thanks.

Is anyone able to extrapolate? Photoshop crashed after working on a file for a few hours. It left hundreds of Mb of info on the scratch disk. If Photoshop is able to read from the scratch disk when it is running, there must be some way to retrieve data from it later?

nope. there’s no guarantee that what’s there is even your file. it’s exactly what it says. scratch. just like doing math problems on scratch paper. most of it is unusable junk, bits and pieces of calculations written when ever the program needed to store some intermediate result temporarily while it worked on the main problem.
