Shift Drag Ellipse Tool Problem

I'm having a problem with my copy of photoshop cs2 with the ellipse tool. When you shift-click & drag this tool, it doesn't constrain to make a perfect circle. When i do this with rectangle it makes a square, polygon - an even shape, line - a straight line...whats the go?? The strange thing is that it works with the circular marquee tool. Shift-click & drag works with everything BUT ellipse tool. Please help.

Hi Justin,
Check the tool's "Geometry options" (tiny arrow in the Options bar). Such a thing may happen if "Fixed Size" is selected but "Width" and "Hight" values not defined.
