I am a professional graphic artist and have been using PhotoShop for 19 years. I recently upgraded to CS2 and I am simply trying to draw a series of straight lines within a RGB image. When I select the tool, pixel width, and color and click and drag a line it creates a new layer with a mask for each line I draw. How do I draw multiple lines that are not masks and are all on the same layer? I have looked everywhere and can find no reference to this annoying change to the most basic of tools.

Did you look at the tool options bar? All the options are there for what you want.
Don't think Photoshop's quite 19 years old yet.

James,
At the top, just under "Image" are 3 symbols.
Hoover over each.
1st one is "Shape Layers"
2nd one is "Paths"
3rd one is "Fill Pixels"
Click on "Fill Pixels" to solve your problem.

This is the way it's worked since version 7, maybe even 6 (don't remember).

Thank you for the help. That worked. Sometimes it's too easy.
And, stevent, you are right. I started using Image Studio on an Apple SE 20 with one mg of ram. We switched to PhotoShop when it launch later. Ah the good ol' days.
