"No more virtual tiles can be allocated" error message

One of our users is getting this error message and her filters are unavailable. She restarted PS, rebooted the system, activated Bigger Tiles plug-in, soft installed to repair and still has the problem.

Has anyone else come across this problem and if so, what was the solution. Thanks. Bob Napack

How much RAM & virtual memory does she have and are the Photoshop mem settings correct in the system setup? I always use the bigger tiles option and have never had a problem.

The Dell Optiplex 745 running Windows XP has two drives with 23 GB free on the first scratch disk and 36 GB free on the 2nd. It has 2 GB of ram alloted to 85% with the cache set to 8.

I've only set the bigger tiles switch since installing 4 gigs of RAM, so do not have the same experience. However, the filters require contiguous available RAM- so their unavailability would certainly be indictative of a RAM shortage.

I'm assuming that the VM system settings are optimized.

I'd reduce the amount of memory allocated to Photoshop to the default 55% and reduce the cache level to 2. If that solves the problem, adjust upwards from there.
