hi::
i have a problem i need your help on : )
objective: i need to remove the wall from behind the model's head, but
keep
her strands of wind swept hair.
problem: my tool of choice in the past has been creating a path,
converting
to selection, and adding a mask to fine tune the lines. in this particular instance using paths and selections makes the hair look unrealistic. question: how do i create a fine-tuned selection that captures the strands of hair but not pixels of the wall?
thanks !

This is a great technique-- have used it a lot---
one more "cheat" that sometimes works depending on the color of the hair and the background is to go through
the channels technique and then, for the really fine stuff (baby duck down, animal fur, etc) you can sometimes create a new layer that only includes the data from the margins and play with layer blend modes and ranges to get the stray pixels to blend.

This one works well for fine jewelry chains and lace, too. (eg-- when you have a woman
wearing a bracelet and her hand is extended and the b/g is visible in the links
or you have a bridal veil or lace tablecloth)
