Does this mean something other than scratch disk space? If so, just what?
If not, what do I need to do to get merge to HDR to work?
Using the scratch disk setup under Edit/preferences there is 190 gig free space available for Photoshop to use.
The three files I'm trying to merge are 16 bit 93.1 meg. each.
Photoshop-CS 2 trial (CS 1 installed AND properly licensed)
Win-XP-Home
1 gig memory
Matrox P-650 video card
AMD Sempron 2600+
With CS, I have photomerged 12 pictures that resulted in a file that, at 300 DPI, would print 12 inches by 30 inches.
Thank you,

OOPS!
I need to add that I have applied the latest update to the CS-2 trial and that it isn't until the last choice in swap file locations does the system/program physical drive get called in to use.

OK. I have tried it on my other computer with the same error message.
This is an AMD-64-X2 3800 CPU. 828912 bytes chip memory available for use out of 1 gig chip memory with over 500 gig of drive space available. Over 300 is on the non-system drive.
After getting the "not enough storage space to complete" error, Merge to HDR reports that a command can not be completed then quits.
What the heck is the cause and the cure?
Thank you.

FYI: I have gone through and applied the on-line Adobe tech. solutions for this problem, including setting with re-boot, the new directory for environmental variables TEMP and TMP.
If it is a lack of memory problem, I would like to know. I will upgrade to the max the computer will handle (2 gig) Crucial brand DDR2-667 PC2-5300, the top performance chip model for this machine, as soon as the problem is confirmed to be memory lack.
But with a tight budget and the memory upgrade costing more than the Photoshop upgrade, I really would like to know if there is just some setting somewhere I have wrong. If a test shows the additional memory solves the problem, I'll get the CS-2 upgrade and, towards the end of the year, try CS-3 download trial and go from there.
Thank you.

Solution found.

Removing the following from the start-up list did the trick. It also noticably increased the overall speed of Photoshop.

CFD.EXE - A part of bellSouth's DSL set-up.
Google Desktop
Lotus Quick Start (I use it for buisness cards and don't laugh, please.)
Adobe Reader Speed Launch
Adobe Reader Synchronizer

I doubt it was either of the Adobe files.

Bill, posting this here in case someone has the same problem
