Where does one start?

I am confused, is camera raw a plug in with PSC2. or is it uploaded to the camera?

I have the Canon D300

There are two aspects to this:

The raw format is something you select on your camera. It’s in the menu where you pick between say, jpeg fine and jpeg basic. Then you just download the raw images as you would any other type.

The software for processing the images is a plugin in Adobe Bridge. Check out here for info:

According to that site the 300D is supported. You may need to upgrade.
