Re-installing PS CS2 with "Try" file

Can PS CS2 be installed or reloaded by using the trial download version? I apparently have corrupted the program (it starts to load, then shuts down). I suspect I did something while trying to get Bridge "uncorrupted."

Because of a move last week I cannot yet locate the original CD. But I have my serial number and activation number.

Is it better to first uninstall (if I can) the current program or install it on top of what I have now (I think I know the answer to that).

I'm running WinXP Pro on a 3.0GHz, 2GB Intel machine.

Any advice or shared experience will be appreciated.

Bob,

As far as I know, the "try" file, i.e. the downloadable demo, is the same as the normal retail installation. So, yes, provided you have a valid serial number with available activations intact, you should be able to install the downloadable demo using that serial number. Moreover, if you are simply reinstalling over an existing installation and all product license data and activation hashes are intact, then you should be able to do that with the demo, without worrying about serial number entry. I don't recall if the installer recognizes an existing installation and provides an option to repeat the last install or not, but it may, as a means for effecting a repair. In any case, I don't think you should have any problem using the demo file as a substitute for your lost CD.

Thank you. I'm going to try it tonight. I've only activated once and I'm doing it again on the same CPU. I think the problem really is with Bridge. It won't start and I've tried every suggestion I've found online.

Thanks again.
