Hi Group,
I’m having a problem with PS CS1. Whenever I try to open a Jpeg or Gif file on my system I get the error message " Cannot complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I can create a new document in PS and save it as a Jpeg or Gif and then reopen it. I searched this forum and couldn’t find any matches. Any ideas on solving this would be appreciated.

Has it always done this or is it new behavior? Where are these jpgs and gifs coming from? Do they have the correct extensions? Can you open them in another program, a browser or something like that?

Thanks for your reply, Ed. I did more research and found that the problem is with my file and folder hierarchy. PS will not open any image file in the my documents folder or its sub folders. But it will open images from the source folder. That is C:/documents and settings/my user name/my documents. So, it’s not a problem with PS. Sorry to bother you before I did more research.
