And, further to what Neil said…

….by pointing to that previously created material, and explaining why it might be a good idea to do some searching first, it allows the people here who volunteer their time to focus their energies on answering questions about which little-to-nothing has been written, or which are so esoteric than searching for them is very difficult.

Finding boatloads of pages explaining common techniques is really quite a simple task, relatively speaking.
