Text Engine error?

Hello!

How do I remedy this error message: "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized".

I had a font server issue dealt with on my Mac last night. That is the only thing that has changed since yesterday when using the text tool in Photoshop was not a problem. Now, I can't type in Photoshop or modify an existing type layer. Hmmmmm!

Thanks!

James,

What kind of font server issue, and how was it remedied? Plus hardware, OS and Photoshop environment, version and file details, please. Thanks!

Also, have you checked for duplicate or corrupted fonts?

Sounds either like a corrupt font or more then likely a corrupt font database.

There is a free utility called Font Nuke or something like that that that will remove all your font databases and that might solve the problem.

Neil,

I am not sure exactly what was done to remedy the font server issue. I know that some conflicts were deal with between our font server and Font Book.

I am on Photoshop CS2 still.... recently upgraded to OS 10.4.11... The actual document is a simple file with some text layers and some images so far.

Everything worked fine yesterday. I've already put in an inquiry to the person who worked on my computer last night.

Thanks!
