Help removing scanlines from image...

Hi. I'm trying to remove scanlines from this image and am having trouble.

I've read some tutorials about using blur and sharpen, but it doesn't seem to help, since they're so pronounced.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how I could remove, or lessen these lines? Maybe some levels and opacity?

I've looked at the image, and magnified it, but I don't see any sort of lines. Could you explain what you mean by scan lines? The only lines I ever get is when I scan from a printed source like a magazine. This is moire and it occurs because a magazine picture is printed using halftoning. That is, the image is made up of many dots, and is not a continuous emulsion like an actual photograph is. You eliminate moire by scanning with the descreen filter on. I don't see this effect in your pictures though.

Look in the bottom picture, and in the bottom half of that picture. It's most visible in the dark suits of the people on either side of the picture. They're horizontal lines, and once you see them it's all you see. :)

Okay, I see them now. First, what is your setup?(computer, OS, scanner, etc.)
I had a problem with my Microtek scanner creating a light colored line that ran down the scan from top to bottom, and it was a corrupted file in the scanner's software. I just had to delete the file, and it solved the problem.
Have you tried removing the scanner's software and re-installing the latest version of it?
The reason I mention this is because the scanner should not introduce lines into the scan. If it does, it's either the scanning software or the scanner itself. I'd uninstall the scanner's software and then re-install it. If that doesn't solve the problem, try contacting the scanner's manufacturer, and expain it to them. Microtek was very helpful when I contacted them. Unfortunately, I ended up returning the scanner, since it was under warranty. The one they sent me did the same thing, only it was after the warranty expired, so I bought a Canon 9950F....no problems.<g> I reread your initial post before I posted this and saw that you were trying to remove the lines from a scan you already made. I played with it, and the only way I can see to remove the lines is one by one using the Healing Brush. It will take some time, but I don't know of any filter that will remove the lines without affecting the whole picture. Maybe someone else knows of a filter. Anyone?
