I want to create a preview book of wedding images but rather than using the text tool to type every file name, is there a way automatically embedding the file name over the actual image ie like an ‘action’ but without having to type every time. Reason being I use about 500 images a week and this become time consuming.

What version? There’s a script for this; AddFileName. It’s Either available on the Adobe Exchange or comes with the program; I don’t remember which.

You could ask on the Photoshop Scripting Forum. But you don’t have to. As I said, at least one such script already exists.

See link below. I believe it’s a matter of putting the script into any text editor, saving it as .js and putting that file in the Scripting folder in Photoshop Presets. Then you can go to File>Scripts to run it.

Here’s a link to the script I use to do this. It puts the filename at bottom centre of the image, but this position can be changed by editing the script.

Hope this helps.
