critical error installing CS3

Tried using the installer, downloaded twice an keep getting the message Critical errors were found in setup for adobe photoshop cs3: The installer database is invalid: Please re-install the product from the original media, Please see the Setup log file for details. Click cancel to exit Setup.
Anyone have any ideas around this or how to correct it so it installs? First I was getting errors with int explorer open. But now this? thanks for any help.

I don't get any error report but get stuck at the "Agreement" screen, and "CANCEL" is the only option.

I am guessing CS3 may require IE to install as it asked me to close "FireFox" to continue, then get stuck at the "Agreement" screen. And I have IE7 installed on my system, and it's possible that I may need to disable Firewall and Anti-Virus which I haven't tried yet.
