Tablet not detected by PS 7 ?

Hi everybody..

I'm using a Wacom Intuos3, and Photoshop 7. (windows xp) It's been working perfectly fine for a few months; but just now Photoshop fails to detect it! PS considers it as a normal mouse.

Now this used to happen once in a blue moon, but I would close Photoshop, re-run it, and thing would be fine. But now it's totally quit detecting the tablet, the brushes aren't pressure sensitive, etc

Other programs detect the tablet fine. And yes, I do have the latest tablet driver installed. Re-booting is only a last resort at the moment, as this machine is the host for a network-rendering service.
Thanks for reading this, any help would be appreciated!

That can only happen if the tablet driver has a problem.

The Wacom Intuos tablets have a pen mode and a mouse mode. There is even a "button" for switching modes on the tablet. Could this be the problem?

My tablet does not have such a button, it's all automatic when switching. I tried opening PS with just the pen, or just the mouse.
Yah, it must be a driver problem. Strange. I'll just have to wait a week until the rendering's done.
Thanks for your help.

Problem solved!!!!

Thanks to the Wacom forum.

Typing "net stop tabletservice" in the commandline, and then "net start tabletservice" was able to reset the driver. Then when I loaded up Photoshop, it worked properly.

Hope someone else benefits from knowing this.

thanks for reporting jor! btw, you can also perform this (service stop and restart) from the "Services" applet in the administrative tools folder inside the control panel. no command line needed.
