Email image attachment preview (pre Photoshop) is different than image file

I saved an image from the web to my desktop, which I then tried to attach to an email. I selected the file in the finder, but an earlier pre-Photoshop version of the image came up as the preview. How is this possible?
In this case, the saved image was a picture of 3 clones of the same person. The preview showed only one of that person (no evidence of Photoshop effects)

it sounds like you attached the wrong image.
