I would like to know how to add text at the bottom of a picture, such as the names of people in the rows or a story about the picture. I would like to do this without using any of the photo. It would have to be an area added to the bottom and would become part of the picture but could be cropped out if you need to print the picture without the information.

Thanks

Karl,

Here’s one way:

– Set your colors so that white is the background color (or whatever color you wish to have behind your writing)
– On the menu, click Image > Resize > Canvas Size… – In the Height field, enter the size you want your image to be, including the new space.
– In the Anchor control, click the top-center arrow, which keeps your existing image top and centered.
– Click OK. You now have new blank space below your image. – Use the text tool to type in that area. If you run out of room, enlarge the canvas some more.

The short takes is: use Canvas Size and add some to bottom of pix, then add text there.

A really fast trick to add space to a photograph is to use the Crop Tool. Draw a crop box around you whole image and then take the handle at the bottom and pull it down to the area you want and hit enter. The new area will have the background colour.
