I have not found a way to do this in Photoshop Elements. After modifying the image and then saving, Elements always changes the file date to the current date and time. Another program I used called Graphic Converter offered the option of keeping the original file date. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Late answer as I’ve been away for a couple of weeks.

The file date stamp should remain as was, only the modify date should change.

There is, however, a utility called ‘ExifRenamer’ for the mac which will rename files in batch mode. I now rename all my files to date format, year, month, day, hours, mins, seconds. The program gets the date and times from the embedded exif file data.
Hope you’ve got a mac.
