PS CS will not open- quits unexpectedly on initializing TWAIN sources

I recently had to reinstall the drivers for my HP PSC 1200 (the scanner wasn't being recognized) and also deleted the files for an old Epson flatbed scanner and now Photoshop CS won't open. It quits unexpectedly when trying to initialize the TWAIN sources. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks so much!!

Put a tilde (~) in front of Photoshop's TWAIN plug-in name to disable it.

Then scan outside of Photoshop, either with the scanner's stand-alone scanning software or a utility like VueScan or SilverFast ("$ilverfa$$t").
