I’m getting pretty frustrated with Photoshop not saving the colors correctly. Evey time I save it and go to upload it online it turns out my colors are faded. They will look fine on the screen but not when uploading it online.

I’m using photoshop CS2 and I’ve got a new macbook pro. Color display is set to Color LCD which maybe the problem but I’m not sure.

What can I do to fix this?! Please explain as much as you can. I’m pretty new with this since I’ve never had to deal with this problem.

Thank you!
Angela

this is a very common problem and has very simple fixes:

calibrate/profile monitor to 2.2 gamma, d65/6500

also here is a link to the issues to proof the theory in action…

I wouldn’t have posted here if I had found that FAQ.

I’m also not talking about using the "Save for Web". I’m taking about saving in general.

Thanks for the help anyways.

apple "color lcd" is likely based on 1.8 gamma

photoshop is color managed

the web is not color managed and will ignore any embedded profile (except for Safari)

the answer is simple but you will need to read a bit either on the links provided or the many other similar threads here…

btw, I forgot to mention CONVERT TO sRGB in my previous post in addition to 2.2 monitor gama, d65/6500

The point is you are losing your profile somewhere (outside of photoshop) it sounds like

Angela,

I’m also not talking about using the "Save for Web". I’m taking about saving in general.

You were/are talking about saving images and uploading them to the web. The process, the problem an the remedy are identical in both cases, because it amounts to the one and the same thing: saving images to upload them to the web.

As the FAQ and GB tell you, you HAVE to convert your image to sRGB before saving.

That, and calibrating your monitor to gamma 2.2 will cure your problems.

this is not true.

I have an Apple Cinema 23" and it is 2.2 gamma.

Even Apple recommends 2.2 Gamma

BTW there is a link to g’s site on this page. (I thought that was pretty cool)

I have two 23" and one 30" Apple HD monitors on this Mac and I don’t have a "color lcd" profile available — hmm…
