color overlay not working

hello all,

The color overlay function in the layer style pallette is not working in photoshop CS. when I use it, the layers pallete indicates the layer style has been applied but the layer does not change. I have tried deleting the prefs file but to no avail.

Any ideas?

What blend mode do you have selected for the overlay?

Need much more information. What other Styles are you using? What is the nature of the graphic? Blend Mode, etc.
