How do I take a tiff, jpeg or color bitmap and convert it to a monochrome (1 color) bitmap? I am using a foil printer, and the software only recognizes 1 color bitmap. I’m sure it’s easy, I’m pulling out my Hair!

Jim,

Try… Image > Mode > Bitmap

Thanks. That gets me to grayscale, but I need solid black. Anymore suggestions?

That’s strange… when I set Mode to Bitmap, it goes THROUGH grayscale, but the end state is pure black and white.

I get the message that it has to be converted to grayscale first, but i get this muddy gray. I use graphic converter also, any suggestions?

Can you post a sample of the original? It sounds like you’ll need to apply several techniques to get desired output.

I think that, if you use the Info palette, you’ll find that the "muddy gray" is actually dithered pure black and white.

I guess I don’t know what it is that you’re seeking… sorry I don’t have anything else to suggest.

I’m not sure how to post a jpeg. Can you tell me how?
