Hello...

Where I can find some extension for windows explorer which can read compression type in tiff files and display it in "view-details"?

Simply, I need to find all tif files on hard disk which dont have lzw compression applied.

I don't know of an extension for Explorer, but IrfanView, a free image program, will provide the information you want.

To start, set IrfanView to open tiff files. Open the first file and press the letter "I" (for Information). The "Compression" field will show "None" or "LZW". Press Esc to put the Information window away.

To move LZW files to their own folder, press F7 and set up the destination folder. After that's done, you can move desired files by pressing F7, Enter.

OK. But I need this info about compression without opening files, because I have more thousands photos.

Can we ask why you need to identify these files?

Because we have storage server with dtp layouts which have currently 2TB. Most of these size is pictures. Some pictures have compression, some not. I need to compress all tiffs without lzw with lzw.

Just set up an action to open, apply LZW, save, and close.
