Hi!
I'm using Photoshop 7.0 and I'm trying to "save for web" a picture and I cannot. I used to but now I get the message "Could not complete this operation because an assertion has failed". What does it mean? How can I fix it?
I have already unistalled and reinstalled it but the problem remains! Can someone please help me?
Thank you in advance!

Have you tried deleting your preference file as per the forum FAQs? That file is not replaced by an uninstall/reinstall

No, I hadn't tried that.
I'll try it and I'll let you know!
Thank you !!!

Dear Len hi!
I deleted my preference file but my problem still remains. I get the same message every time I use the "save for web" option.
What else can I do?

If you've done that, and truly reset your preferences per the procedure in the faq, then the problem doesn't lie with photoshop.

Something else changed.

Did you reset Photoshop Preferences or Save for Web preferences?

The FAQ has two different procedures!

Kalliopi,

The current versions of Photoshop do have a separate Save for Web preference file, but I'm afraid I can't remember if PS7 had such a preference file or not.

In current versions there is a separate Save for Web folder at \Documents and Settings\~username\Application Data\Adobe\Save for Web.

Check and see if that is also true for PS7 (but I don't think it is).

You could also try holding down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT whilst launching Save for Web or you could try deleting the whole of your Photoshop Settings folder.

Dear Len,
You're right there is no "Save for Web" preference file in PS7. So what's next?

Dear Len,

I saw your previous answer about "Save for Web" preferences becoming corrupted and I held down CTRL+ALT while clicking on File>Save for Web.

I followed your advice and now my PS7 works fine !

Thank you very much. I hope that I won't bother you again.
