pixel precise deletion of selection

Hi,

if I select pixel precise range of image and then delete selection (content) sourrounding pixels are always affected (they loose hue, appear dimmed).
If I want to delete exactly and only my selection how do I do that without switching to another layer – or is that just simply not possible?

Set the feather of your selection tool to zero.

That is because Photoshop anti-aliases the selection tools by default. The "dimming" you see is Photoshop creating the illusion of a smoother edge by anti-aliasing the edge.

To get pixel-precise, non-anti-aliased selections, turn off anti-aliasing in the Options bar of the selection tool.

Set the feather of your selection tool to zero.

Sounds to me like what he’s describing is the result of antialiasing, not feathering.
