PSD Thumbnails Don't Display

OK, I have the same problem. One of the earlier posts in this thread said black thumbnails are from saving a file without preview. What does that mean? I also used to be able to see the thumbnails, but haven't since I got a new computer.

Details please. You've opened up a 3 month old thread. If you don't have Photoshop 7.0 or earlier you're not supposed to see thumbnails in Explorer.

thank you for the very NICE reply. I didn't know there was anything wrong with that. Where will I find all these rules? Also, there seems to be a difference between viewing black thumbnails and just the CS icon.

I'm sorry. I am just so frustrated with this CS, I wish I was still using my Elements - first version.

Laurie,

There is a not-recommended by Adobe work around for the situation, which Adobe calls a Microsoft bug and Microsoft calls an Adobe problem.

I've used the fix below (from another thread with the same topic) for about 6 months on my own systems and several others at work without a problem (running XP Pro, SP2 with all patches) on CS2. Adobe employees say that at some point files may be corrupted, but so far so good, and I've worked with thousands of .psd files with the fix in place...

"I used these files from Sitepoint which cured the issue for me (CS2 Studio on Win XP Pro). They automate the registry fixes very nicely.
