image ready animated gif with image maps

Hi
I have read through all the similar probs in the search area and resolved why I couldn't initially save as a gif, until I opened the optimize pallete.

I've created a 2 layer gif with 4 image maps, when I view the gif within image ready using the "file view using - internet explorer", the image maps links work fine.

But when I click back to photoshop and File Save For Web and view the saved gif the links don't appear.

How do I save the gif from within Image Ready or Photoshop so that the image maps work.

any assistance welcome, deadline looming fast

The 'image map' is HTML code. There is no map code within the image file itself. You need to Save HTML and Images and then view the HTML file.

I need to put the animated gif with 4 links into a Microsoft Outlook Email as a signature.

Can I put the html page in as a signature or is there a better way to go about it from the start?

I put animations into Outlook frequently. You have to insert picture from file and then save (from within Outlook) as web page. Your settings (in Outlook) have to be set to send as HTML. Also, the person receiving the message must have their settings set to view HTML or I don't think the animation will move (not really sure about that). I can't help with the image map, but don't think that gifs support layers in their final stage.

You're right, if the receiver has "Read all messages as plain text," or otherwise blocks HTML mail as I do as a matter of course, all that will be seen will be plain text. No animation, no links, not even a gif. You are also correct about layers in gif. The gif format has no support for layers, in any stage. While an image is being created/modified in PS it is no longer a gif and does not conform to the gif spec again until it is saved as a gif.
