Need advice on what version to update to from Photoshop 4.0 LE?

Hello,

I was given Photoshop 4.0 LE for Christmas years ago and have enjoyed using it. I am now looking into doing digital scrap-booking and realize that my version of Photoshop is way out of date so the tutorials people have out there for scrap-booking in photoshop don't work out to well. lol.

Can someone please let me know what is the newest version I can update to without paying big bucks for the newest version (is that CS? not even sure how they progress in updates and the oldest one on the downloads is for 5.0). I am a stay at home mom now and can't afford much so I can't just purchase new.

Thank you so much for your help.

The update to CS2, or version 9, is about $150. It's the only update Adobe sells. You would want to check their update page to make sure that LE is included as something you can upgrade from....

What you probably really want to do is to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 4, which is the current "lite edition" that's comparable to the LE you have now. That upgrade is something like $70-75, I think.

One other route -- If you're thinking about purchasing a new printer or digital camera at any point, there's a decent chance that the manufacturer bundles Photoshop Elements or a similar tool with the hardware.

Carlynn,

I'm afraid you are going to be disappointed. You have the version 4 Limited Edition. You can't upgrade to a full version from an LE version.

(There have been special offers in the past, but as there have been no LE versions for many years, that doesn't apply).

You may well find that Photoshop Elements will be quite sufficient for your needs.
