Colors changing after save for web, please help

Hello to all
I never thought I would have a problem with photoshop, but unfortunatelly here it is )) I'm using it for 6 years already.

I face this problem for a first time and I read in google but didn't find a solution, only this which didn't help to solve the problem.

So the problem is that I made a file and I need to save it for web. But photoshop changes the colors of the original file and gives me completely different colors when I use save for web,
I tried to switch through all the color profiles which are suitable for web, also to change the proof setup, but no result so far.

here is a screenshot of my problem
the left picture is the original file - I want it to be in violet, but after save for web it is more blue than violet (see the right picture which is save for web window)

Photoshop offers the choice to "use only web color" in the color picker in CS2. I don't recall how far back that option went, and I don't know what version you are using.

I would assume that this would help resolve your problem.

Have you tried Photoshop HELP, and done a search for "web colors"?

Hi Snejanka,

Try converting the original image to sRGB before using Save For Web.

I found some solution...
proof setup is different for monitor and windows and also save for web up menu has to be on uncompressed colors.
It is strange that the default setings were wrong.
So the whole file 5 days work went wrong because I was creating it with this settings: view - proof setup - windows rgb and save for web god knows what....
so changing the settings in the save for web dialog only effects the preview, but changing the settings in proof setup on monitor rgb and then save the file with uncompressed colors adn uplouding it, it gives the right color...

so the correct as I see has to be proof setup - monitor rgb and save for web - uncompressed colors. so this way you get in web what you see on your monitor.

actually, this way you get the same colours in your web browser and PS on your monitor. What you get on another monitor may be comp[letely different...

so what then should be the correct settings?
I didn't have this problem in the previous versions of photoshop because with this settings I put I corrected the file a little bit and now everything is ok, I would ask some friends to take it and to send me a screnshot maybe

All I'm saying is that your image will appear differently on different monitors.

The solution to minimize colour shifts is to convert your image to sRGB before saving for web

All that pertains to is keeping the Adobe Color picker divided into so-called websafe colors, as divided into regions of standard hex values <http://webmonkey.wired.com/webmonkey/reference/color_codes>.

For something like what Snejanka created, with more continuous tonal variations, he'd be wanting to use JPEG or PNG.

Snejanka's problem is definitely one of color profile conversion.

In fact that whole "Web Safe" business is an obsolete relic of earlier times.

Then that means your monitor is farther away from sRGB than the average monitor. Is it calibrated? To what gamma? (should be 2.2)
