wide screen image in Photoshop 7

I captured an image 16X9 with my camcorder, but when viewing in Photoshop version 7, it is squeezed. I am new to this newgroup, so please do not flip if this question has been asked countless times.

If you create a new image in Photoshop, you can select an aspect ratio under "Advanced", select e.g. NTSC Widescreen. Copy paste the captured layer into the new image.
