Canon is offering a free CD with workflow hints from some of the pros. I'm sure it's part advertisement but I was told it has some good info as well. There have been a few discussions on workflow so I thought this may be of interest to some.

hey, take it !....you may get spammed to death afterwards but at least it will be from and for something that interests you...digital photography. Since i downloaded spybot and used spybot I don't get anymore graphic and digital art spam...kind of miss it :(

OK, I bit just for the heck of it. I seriously doubt there'd be too much spam generated by Canon, but oh well. I did NOT check the little box that asked for permission to receive e-mail information! My ISP spam catcher is pretty good anyway, and I have a new one "in training" on my desktop computer. I ain't gonna let 'em scare me!

James,
Thanks! Additional knowledge is a GOOD thing.
I sent of a request, but, since the email field is optional, did not provide one... if they want to paper-spam me, oh well. We have a big recycle bin.

I have the disk - came with my 10D, I guess. Haven't loaded it up yet, but will do so tonight and post a mini-review. I'm guessing it will recommend using the Canon software tools - which are among the worst on this planet (and throw in Mars for good measure)

They sent me the disc awhile back. I never could get the workflow section to run on my windows machines. I got the screens on everthing else though. (like the stuff they would like you to buy.)

Very quick sneak preview: it contains an excellent discussion on RAW vs. JPEG, including several videos of top photographers telling why they use only RAW.

If you are interested in digital workflows, here's an interesting article by Ken Milburn. I thought it was very interesting that he recommends archiving in JPEG 2000.:

Note: the link is to part 2, because there's no link in part one that goes to part 2, so you need to go to the second part first to get a link to the first part.

Thanks for the link Barbara. Will read later tonight. I would like to see why he recommends JPEG 2000 as the ones I have saved in that format can only be opened by one of my programs and it doesn't seem to be getting the support that many thought it would.
