I don't know what the other posts recommended, but I recommend getting a new drive and reinstalling Photoshop and everything on it. I think this error occurs because of a physical disk error either on the drive you have PS installed on or the drive you're using as a scratch disk. Adobe recommends a reinstall of Photoshop only, but that doesn't work if there's physical disk errors.
I know because I had this problem recently--for a month or more--and it got more frequent each day. And there are many sequences of events in Photoshop that can cause this error--so there's no saying "if you do this, this is going to happen" because there's too many variables. Once I got a new hard drive and reinstalled the OS and PS and everything else, the error disappeared.

This message appears every 4th or 5th time I select a field of text. After I restart Pshop I am once again able to select the text field. However, the problem eventually reappears. This happens across different psd files and text fields.
I've seen a few posts regarding this problem, but no responses with a solution that has worked. Any suggestions for a fix?
I am using CS2 on XP with 2gigs of RAM.
Thanks,
