How do I print the filenames in the borders of my prints with Photoshop CS2 (ver 9.0)? I really have 2 questions:

1) How do I print the filenames in the borders of my prints with Photoshop CS2 (ver 9.0)? I generally print with borders, but I'd like to have the filename printed there.

2) Every time I print something in CS2, I have to set the printer up from the default: Plain paper, 8.5 x 11 inch sheet. Is there any way to have Photoshop default to 4 x 6 inch premium glossy paper?

I do of my printing with 4 x 6 inch glossies on an Epson R300. My Camera is a Canon 20D, if that makes any difference.

To write file names on the borders, you would use the TYPE. Bring up a new file, name it, then size it to the paper you are working with. Drag you picture onto the blank page and work out what your margin is to be. Centre your picture. Then using TYPE tool, type the file name or print name etc and place the type where you want it to be.

As for setting up the printer using CS2, I have found it more convenient using the software that came with your camera, you can keep the default for all your printing. I use Canon!

I recently did a load of 4 x 6's and found this was the way to go, just load the pictures and they take care of the rest.

If you want to automate the process, similar to printing a contact sheet with image details, you will need a script.

see

This freeware script will add the filename and time and date to your image. The site has instructions for installation and use. Just put all the images you want to add the names to into a separate folder.
