Can't delete converted RAW files

Typically, I shoot RAW and convert within PS CS2. I save them as TIFF. Further work on them typically and then I save the completed version.

Once that is accomplished, if I try to move the file or even delete it, I get an error saying that the file can't be moved because an application is still open. I've tried making sure everything was closed. I've even rebooted and tried to delete; same thing happens.

The only way around this, so far is to boot into Safe Mode and delete there.

Any ideas? The only other option I can think of would be to convert to either JPEG or PSD and then convert back to TIFF.

If you're usong Windows, this might me because the Explorer tries to create thumbnails from the files.

If you change folder view to, for example, detailed list, and then reboot (this is where all the Mac users laugh at us), this will make the files deletable.
You can also delete the files from the command prompt, as long as you haven't browsed the folder since you last rebooted (this is also where all the Mac users laugh at us).
