I am trying to use the wind filter in CS2 and instead of blasting the wind to the outside of the object I am editing, it goes to the inside of the item.

I had the previous version of PhotoShop and tried to replace the wind filter from that version and it still happens.

What can I do to get my wind filter back?

Thanks

Chris,

Do you have a selection area active ? If so it sounds like you need to invert the selection.

Hi Len,

Thanks for the reply. Strangley enough.. When I went back today to recreate the issue, it won’t do it. Now everything works fine. So I gues the problem is fixed. THanks for your help, not sure what happened there.

Actually, I just tried and it is off and on now. Sometimes it will work. Sometimes it will not. I am not sure if I am a fan of this new version. It seems to make my computer run slower as well. I have already adjested my cache level to 4 from 6 but it still is draging. I have 1GB of memory as well, running on a AMD Athlon 64 FX-53.

Anyways, Here are screen shots of what is happening when I try to apply the filter.

1) Here is a document with a black background with a circle as a second layer: <http://69.20.78.76/images/ps_prob/1.jpg>

2) Here is a picture of the layers: <http://69.20.78.76/images/ps_prob/2.jpg>

3) Here is a sreenshot of when I apply the filter: <http://69.20.78.76/images/ps_prob/3.jpg>

4) Here is a screenshot of the settings I am using on that filter: <http://69.20.78.76/images/ps_prob/4.jpg>

5) Here is the end result of what happens when the filter is applied: <http://69.20.78.76/images/ps_prob/5.jpg>

This is driving me crazy. I can open and existing document, and apply the filter to an existing layer and it will work, but if I create a new layer and then load a selection of of an existing layer and fill it with a solid color on the new layer, then apply the filter to the new layer it does the same thing.

Thanks for any help,

Chris,

I’m unclear as to the result you are expecting. Your screen-shots show exactly what the wind filter will produce in both CS and CS2.

Are you trying to achieve something similar to:

Len,

When I did the same process in PhotoShop CS I was able to produce this, where as now it is inverting the effect.

I am looking to be able to do the same thing.
