In Photoshop v7 when I would convert a folder full of files from jpg to psd each file would open in its own window, showing the picture, then close. I have recently upgraded to CS2 and now, during batch process, when the file opens instead of showing the picture all I get is a checker board pattern. Opening a file normally does produce a picture, as expected.
Everything is working corretly and the file conversion takes place as expected. I haven't been able to find anything in the manual about this so hopefully someone can tell me how to fix it.

Apparently the preview has been eliminated to "speed up" the batch processing. Personally I think it must have been a last-minute afterthought because it would have made more sense to also eliminate the blank image dialogue and show a progress bar instead.

OK - So I guess you are saying this is normal then and not some setting I have failed to find. I agree that if they were going to not show the picture for speed reasons then why show the blank image at all?
Thanks,
Jim

Screen redraws/updates. And yes, it's normal.

Yes, it is (and has been for a long time) a preference in the actions playback preferences.
