Healing Brush Tool and Patch Tool

238 views5 repliesLast post: 11/4/2005
I'm running Photoshop CS under Win 2k(pack4)with a Wacom Graphire3 tablet. The Healing Brush Tool,Patch Tool, and others do not work. When I try to use them to remove(repair) scratches, stains or spots from photos nothing happens.

I have deleted pref files, moved the Wacom pen far away, and updated drivers.

I have searched the forum and found nothing that works.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Try resetting the Preferences file (as per the FAQs).

I've searched and applied suggestions from the forum, knowledge base and help files. But, the healing brush still does not work. The patch tool and others work properly, why not the healing brush? Is there a transparency setting for the healing brush that is hidden?
Any ideas??? Anyone!

Thanks

Is the Mode set to Normal? Source to Sampled? - and are you working on a flattened image or at least on the active layer?

Have you tried "Reset Tool" from the flyout menu?

Yes, Ive tried those things. I've reset all tools, deleted prefs, and re-installed PS CS. The only possible thing is, the Background Layer was locked. So, that layer was changed to Layer 0. What else is there to do?

Thanks Chris.

Adobe,
Why does there seem to be a growing problem with these tools?

To be fair, there isn't a growing problem. How did you delete your preferences? What procedure did you use?

What exactly do you mean by "nothing happens". Are you able to set the source with the healing brush? When you use the patch tool, are you able to draw the outline of the area of interest? Are you on an adjustment layer?

Peace,
Tony
